Brown sauce is a basic sauce that uses beef broth with brown roux. You can also make a basic brown sauce with beef broth and a corn starch slurry.

Usually make a cup of broth and a 2 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon flour roux. You'll probably only use 3/4 of the broth.

Add your seasoning to the broth before adding the roux. Here are some ideas:

  • Rosemary (remove sprig before combining with roux)
  • Bay Leaf (remove before combining with roux)
